Widely regarded as one of the foremost chamber choirs in Derbyshire, The Sitwell Singers have been making music together for over 50 years. We have built a reputation for “stylistically spot-on” performances of a varied repertoire, from the great choral masterpieces of European sacred music to folk, jazz and Billy Joel.
“deeply thoughtful … beautifully sensitive”
We are based at St John’s, Bridge Street in Derby, but perform in venues all over the city, the East Midlands and the Peak District. With a core membership of around 30 singers, we present four to five concerts each season, a mix of large-scale works and lighter seasonal programmes. Whether we’re singing a cappella or with brass or a period string ensemble, we’re known for our “huge dynamic range” and our “immaculate blend”.
“… ebbs and flows of tension superbly controlled”
You can hear some examples of how we sound, here.
We currently have a temporary vacancy for an Alto – if you are interested there are more details here.
